Funfetti Hamantaschen for Purim

Purim is one week away and we love trying out fun and new recipes! This one did not disappoint!

Hamantaschen is Yiddish for “Haman’s pockets.” In Hebrew this cookie is known as “Oznay Haman” meaning “Haman’s ears.”

We made our basic dough Hamantaschen Recipe

  • 2 1/2 cups of flour

  • 1/4 tsp of salt

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 5 oz of butter

  • 1 egg and 1 yolk

  • 2/3 cup of powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp of vanilla

  • 1/4 cup of oil

For the funfetti recipe we added

  • 2/3 cup of sprinkles

    Cheesecak Filling

  • 8 oz of cream cheese

  • 1/3 cup of sugar

  • 1 tsp of vanilla

Cream together powdered sugar and butter with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the egg and the egg yolk, oil and vanilla. Then slowly add the dry ingredients a little at a time. The dough might be crumbly, use your hands to combine it. Then add sprinkles. Place dough in the fridge.

Make the filling. Mix all ingredients together with a mixer.

Take dough out of the fridge and roll out. We used this amazing tool from DAYS UNITED to form our Hamantaschen.

Lay out hamantashen circles on the baking sheet. Preheat oven to 350.

Add 1 tsp of the cheesecake filling inside each circle.

Fold up the hamantaschen and place in the oven for 12-15 minutes.

Option to drizzle with white chocolate or more sprinkles! ENJOY!
